Goldie Hawn Demands Payment from Harvey Weinstein for Undermining Her Role in “Chicago”
Oscar-winning actor Goldie Hawn has revealed her experience standing up to Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced former head of Miramax Films. Hawn said she was set to produce and star in an adaptation of the musical “Chicago” alongside Madonna. However, Weinstein commissioned a new script that significantly altered her character’s age.
Despite confronting Weinstein about the changes, Hawn was ultimately left out of the project, which went on to win an Academy Award in 2002. However, Hawn demanded that Weinstein pay her what they had initially agreed on, and she successfully secured the payment.
Speaking about the incident, Hawn noted that standing up to bullies can sometimes lead to success. She expressed satisfaction in having her dignity and ethics restored through her actions.
Weinstein was convicted of criminal sexual assault and third-degree rape in 2020 and is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence. Hawn commented that he is finally facing the consequences of his actions.
